Branching Out Bottle Shop opened in August of 2017 in Township 5 Camillus, NY. The mission at Branching Out Bottle Shop is to provide the largest selection of premium quality and unique American craft beer to the growing beer community in the Syracuse region; from the curious to the connoisseur. Inside the shop you will find some of the staple craft beer selections from breweries like Founders or Bell’s and some of the more off-the-beaten-path breweries like Folksbier or Nightmare Brewing. Suffice it to say that whatever you are looking for you will find it here… you may even find something you had no idea you were looking for. In fact, the owners, Carissa and Joel Monahan, hope that’s true because what they would love to bring to this area is their passion for sharing unique and interesting beers with their friends. When you walk in to the shop you’ll be able to pick from the staples and the obscure and come away with something for every taste. You’ll also be met with a smile and a genuine desire to make sure that your shopping experience is the best you’ve ever had. As the owners and operators of the shop, Carissa and Joel take extreme pride in their business and their ability to make sure that everyone who walks in is leaving happy, even if they leave empty handed. Their excitement for spreading the joy of American craft beer is unparalleled. Their collective beer knowledge will be enough to steer you in any direction you like, or you can let them take the wheel entirely and they will offer you a selection you’ve never dared to taste before. To that point, they’re also ready to learn about your tastes and your favorites and will make special orders when possible for bottles, and kegs. If they aren’t stocking something that you want, you can bet that they’d love to know about it. Their business is all about exploring and sharing American craft beer.

Carissa and Joel are first-time business owners and hope that their vision will be enough to drive their success. Carissa comes from a business and accounting background. She is a Certified Public Accountant formerly working in both the public and private sectors from small companies to very large corporations. She is uniquely gifted in her ability to organize and keep tabs on meticulously created spreadsheets and inventories. She also has an artistic background with a unique gift for dance, jewelry making, and various forms of art and expression. Her husband, Joel, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. He currently has his own private practice in Baldwinsville NY and previously worked in Oswego County providing in-home family therapy to families who are involved with the Department of Social Services there. He holds a credential in Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counseling and has prior experience working in the outpatient substance abuse rehabilitation field. Joel has a knack for reading a room and being with people.
